De-Clutter
Even if the rest of your house is a little disorganized, your calm space should be completely clutter-free. Getting rid of clutter and organizing things does marvelous things for your mental health. Not only does clutter take up physical space, but it also takes up space in your mind. In order to relax, clear all surfaces to make sure your space looks like your clear mind.
Open the Windows
Air the place out with fresh air every day. If it’s cold, only leave your window open for 10 minutes but the circulation and oxygen will do you good. Stagnant indoor air can be as bad as outdoor air pollution so getting in fresh energy is so important to help you relax. If you can, air it out in the morning when the air is sweet and dewy.
Decorate with Green Plants
Another great way to renew the oxygen in your home is to get potted green plants. Not only do they look beautiful, they will be your very own fresh oxygen machines. Ivy, cacti and aloe plants are really easy to look after so if you go away on holiday, they’ll still be fresh and lovely when you get back.
Play Music
Whatever genre makes you relax, play music. Invest in a good set of speakers and have a calming ambience to your relaxation. If melodic music isn’t your thing, some people find nature sounds or even white noise helpful for clearing the mind.
Clear Negative Energy
This is something you can do for all the rooms in your house but especially for your calm space. Set an intention for your energy cleanse, such as ”Thank you for my calming, relaxing retreat. I am grateful for all the positive energy I am putting into my home.”
Once you have set the intention, burn sandalwood or sage incense to break up any bad energies and light a candle for a while to focus the good energy on the light of the flame. Doing this will prepare your mind for meditation at home and will make the space your happy place.
