This Spring is unlike any other we have had before. With isolation there has come a lot of spare time that we don’t know how to fill. Now is the time to fall in love with reading again. Here are four books that are at the top of my Spring book recommendations.

THREE WOMEN – LISA TADDEO
This book is unlike any other I have read. It offers insight into the lives and raw sexuality of three real women. The author, Lisa Taddeo, interviewed the three women featured in this book and documented their individual experiences with love sex and relationships. As the stories in this book are based on real events, it makes their messages so much more powerful and their content more relatable, which is a wonderful thing for a book to do.
Three Women has many accolades including The No. 1 Sunday Times Bestseller and Foyles Non-Fiction Book of the Year. It has received glowing reviews, many of which say it is a book that they have been waiting to read their whole lives. It is a personal favourite of mine and that is why it is one of my Spring book recommendations.
LITTLE WOMEN – LOUISA MAY ALCOTT
This spring book recommendation is a classic that everyone has been introduced to thanks to the new film that came out at the end of 2019. While reading new books may be good, revisiting or discovering classics can be a wonderful way to spend your time.
Little Women is the perfect option for this. With female empowerment and a good storyline what is there not to love about this book? With it’s new found popularity everyone is talking about it so it is perfect for book clubs and your online zoom conversations.
IT’S NOT OKAY TO FEEL BLUE AND OTHER LIES – SCARLETT CURTIS
It’s Not Okay To Feel Blue is the second compilation from Scarlett Curtis (her first being Feminists Don’t Wear Pink and Other Lies). Many well known celebrities wrote songs, poems, diary entries and stories for this beautiful amalgamation of tales of mental health experiences.
There is something in this book for everyone even if you don’t know the authors. It is a book that makes you think and reconnect with yourself through the experiences and advice of others. It is the perfect book to read in our new found world of isolation, with many affirmations and tips for surviving your mental health. I cannot recommend this book enough.
INVISIBLE WOMEN – CAROLINE CRIADO PEREZ
This new release is the perfect non fiction book for those who want to learn more about gender inequality throughout the world. Examining data and statistics, Caroline Criado Perez highlights the many ways in which this world we live in is ignoring half the population in favor of the other.
It has won many awards for its groundbreaking work in exposing data bias and has been named a Sunday Times Bestseller. For the feminists out there who want to learn about statistics and hard facts to do with female inequality, this is the book for you. It is especially important now as we are learning the different ways in which our society succeeds and fails; we need to learn from mistakes and decide how we want to move forward as a worldwide society.
